As of 1st August 2026, the age limit is:
- Minimum Age: 21 years

Educational Qualification
For Indian Economic Service (IES):
- Must have obtained a Post-Graduate Degree in Economics/Applied Economics/Business Economics/Econometrics from a University incorporated by an Act of Central/State Legislature in India or other Institutes established by an Act of Parliament or deemed University under UGC Act, 1956 or Foreign University approved by Central Government.
For Indian Statistical Service (ISS):
- Must have obtained a Bachelor’s Degree with Statistics/Mathematical Statistics/Applied Statistics as one of the subjects OR a Master’s degree in Statistics/Mathematical Statistics/Applied Statistics from a recognized University/Institute.
How to Apply Online Form For UPSC IES ISS 2026
Step 1: Visit the official UPSC Online Application Portal: https://upsconline.nic.in
Step 2: If you are a new user, complete Account Creation and Universal Registration to generate your Universal Registration Number (URN). Existing users can log in using their URN and password.
Step 3: Fill out the Common Application Form (CAF) with personal details, educational qualifications, and other required information.
Step 4: Upload scanned photograph, live photo capture, and signature (three times one below the other using black ink) in the prescribed format.
- Photograph: 20 KB to 200 KB (JPG format)
- Signature: 20 KB to 100 KB (JPG format)
Step 5: Open the Examination Specific Module for IES/ISS 2026 and select your service preference (Indian Economic Service OR Indian Statistical Service – Choose only ONE).
Step 6: Select your preferred Examination Centre from the available centres. Allotment is on first-apply-first-allot basis. Early application increases chance of getting preferred centre.
Step 7: Pay the application fee (if applicable) through Net Banking, Credit/Debit Card, or UPI Payment.
- Fee: ₹200/- (General/OBC/EWS candidates)
- No Fee: Female/SC/ST/PwBD candidates
Step 8: Review all the details carefully before final submission. No correction/alteration/modification is allowed after submission.
